National Brook Campaign ‘Sex Positive’ and survey
1.Sex: Positive Campaign
•Brook has 3 stands of activity including Clinical work, Education, and Lobbying, Advocacy and Campaigning. In response to what they felt was societies negative attitude to young people regarding sex, young volunteers at Brook wanted to challenge this view by starting the Sex Positive Campaign.
•The Aim of Sex Positive is to challenge and change the negative attitudes in society towards young people and their developing sexuality so that they can view this aspect in a positive and healthy way, instead of feeling confused and frustrated
•The way that we are choosing to campaign for a Sex Positive society is to ask young people, parents/carers, professionals, organisations, celebrities, MPs to pledge to be Sex Positive.
•By pledging you are challenging the fact that for many people sex is a taboo subject in this country, and encouraging us to live in world that is a open and honest about sex and relationships
If you would like more information about the campaign and/or would like to pledge to be Sex Positive please visit http://www.brook.org.uk/sex-positive
2.National Chlamydia Screening Programme
·Brook has been asked to work with the National Chlamydia Screening Programme to gather the views of young people on the current community chlamydia screening services, and the future branding of the programme.
·The first part of this work is to conduct a survey. This asks questions about young people’s experience of chlamydia screening, as well as beginning to ask about their views on the way the programme should be branded (though this will be explored in more detail in other ways).
·The survey is available to complete online at http://www.brook.org.uk/more/chlamydiahave-your-say
